PromFest
History
PromFest was started in 1997 as an event for Chapelle seniors and their dates to enjoy a safe, alcohol and drug free event after the Senior Prom. The event is filled with fun, food, games and prizes.
Event
The evening begins after the Prom about midnight and ends at about 5:00 am. Seniors and their dates check in and enjoy the fun. The girls do not have to bring a date nor do they have to have attended the Prom. About 95% of the senior class usually attends PromFest. Some of the activities include Wrecking Ball, Bungee Run, Limbo contest, Rock Wall, Putt-putt, basketball and football toss, and Rodeo Bull.
The girls and their dates win “Chipper Bucks” and use those to purchase chances on prizes. Some of the recent prizes include microwaves, televisions, dorm refrigerators, luggage, DVD players, linens, gift certificates, and many other items needed for college life. The grand prize for the girls is usually a laptop computer and printer. The girls need to be present in order to win any of the prizes.
The evening also includes all types of food. Some of the favorites are pizza, chicken strips, shrimp pasta, jambalaya, bread pudding, donuts, and much more. -
The entire evening is free for the girls and their dates. Most of the food and many of the prizes are donated.
Jefferson Parish Police Officers and EMS are on the school grounds for everyone’s protection.
PromFest Committee and Volunteers
The Parents’ Club PromFest Committee works all year long to make this an enjoyable evening. Some of the PromFest committees include: Activities, Banker, Decorations, Check In/Out, Food, Games, Refreshments, Setup/Take Down and Thank You's.
They request donations from many sources. The prize committee has a list of suggested donations these include:
• DVD Players
• 19” or larger TVs
• Laptop Computers
• Microwaves
• Dorm Refrigerators
• Printers
• Iron/Ironing Board
• Linens
• Gift Certificates (mall, restaurants, gas, etc.)
• Digital Camera
• Hair/Nail Salons
• Any other items needed for college students
Please consider donating to the prize committee. Nothing is too small. We make gift baskets and include many items.
Last year PromFest had about 180 volunteers. We need many parents to make this event a success. In order to volunteer, you need to be a parent or guardian of a Chapelle student. You must attend two PromFest meetings in order to participate the night of PromFest. You must also wear the PromFest t-shirt to PromFest. The t-shirt is your admit ticket that night and will identify you as a volunteer. Volunteers are kept busy all night and the girls have a great time.
We want to encourage parents from 8th grade through senior year to volunteer. Volunteering as an underclass parent gives you the opportunity to make a difference when your daughter becomes a senior. PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING.
