"Chapelle’s impressive course of studies includes a wide variety of electives and is designed to teach fundamentals, stimulate creativity, and encourage analytical thinking." |
AcademicArchbishop Chapelle High School offers students an academically challenging, college preparatory curriculum that is rich in its use of technology and attuned to each student’s educational needs. Through the school’s exciting 1-to-1 computing initiative each student receives an iPad2 for her use during her five years at Chapelle. The iPad2 is a product that inspires creativity and encourages hands-on learning with features that are not available elsewhere. The iPad2 provides the means to integrate technology into the curriculum and enhance classroom learning. The device encourages students and faculty to communicate their best thinking with an exciting and innovative approach. There is an app for that! From Math lessons to vocabulary flash cards to anatomy visualizers, there are apps for every subject and every level of instruction. Apps help to personalize instruction, address varieties of learning styles and create highly interactive classrooms. Knowledge and a familiarity with technology enable our students to succeed in the world today; to become the leaders of tomorrow as they learn to compete in the ever growing global, information-based economy. The iPad2 will transform the learning process giving our students the freedom to learn wherever and whenever they want. As an added benefit, students use their iPads to stay connected with their teachers through Edline, which allows them to check their grades and assignments online and even take quizzes and submit their assignments electronically. In addition, Chapelle’s classrooms are well-equipped with ceiling mounted LCD projectors and interactive white boards that allow teachers to create more visually appealing and engaging lessons. Archbishop Chapelle High School accommodates students on different academic levels by offering every student a personalized schedule based on her particular strengths and designed to challenge her abilities. Courses at the basic, academic, honors, and Advanced Placement levels all focus on preparing students for college. Chapelle’s academic program is based on the Catholic philosophy of education, the requirements of the Louisiana State Department of Education, the general entrance requirements of colleges and universities, and the TOPS program. Chapelle’s impressive course of studies includes a wide variety of electives and is designed to teach fundamentals, stimulate creativity, and encourage analytical thinking. Among its many electives, Chapelle offers students the opportunity to prepare for the ACT by enrolling in a semester-long course designed to help students achieve their target scores and secure TOPS awards. Chapelle students consistently score higher than the state and national average on the ACT. Chapelle’s faculty members are dedicated and talented professionals who embrace the opportunity to educate the young minds entrusted to them. They work daily to motivate student learning and challenge their students to reach their full potential. In addition to qualified educators, Chapelle also employs a team of guidance counselors, committed to helping their students cope with academic stress and the ups and downs of the teenage years. Chapelle students are surrounded by adults who care for them and have their best interests at heart. As a true testament to the lasting value of the Chapelle experience, thirty-eight percent of our faculty and staff members are alumnae of Chapelle.
